02 de diciembre, 2010, 09:13 Madrid, February 10 (Prensa Latina) Spain agreed to secret CIA flights through their territory with terrorist suspects captured illegally, said today the daily El Pais on documents revealed by Wikileaks site.

The Washington Embassy in Madrid announced the U.S. Department of State that the Spanish Government "did not put inconvenience" to the secret flights of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), according to the Madrid newspaper.

In its issue of Thursday, the newsletter reveals a confidential telegram sent in 2006 after a meeting held here by the then U.S. Ambassador, Eduardo Aguirre, with the former first vice-president Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vega.

"Vega said that Spain has no drawbacks to flights throughout the Spanish intelligence. They just want to be informed and if necessary, be able to demonstrate that exercise appropriate monitoring," says Aguirre in his report.

In another telegram, the American diplomat who warned (Washington) could not trust that the conservative Popular Party (PP), the main opposition, did not make noise about the issue of flights.

"Weigh your pro-American (in allusion to the PP), our experience suggests that will not hesitate to" capitalize "any opportunity to wear the Executive Chairman of the Socialist José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, opined.

The scandal of CIA flights, traffic at European airports for clandestine terrorist suspects captured illegally and tortured in secret detention centers, taken by surprise in 2005 the administration of Zapatero and the U.S. delegation in Madrid, El Pais reports

But both agreed on a common goal: to minimize its impact on public opinion and prevent the judicial investigation opened in Spain complicate the already delicate relations between the head of Government in Iberia and President George W. Bush, according to the daily.

For this reason, it took out the various meetings between the parties, claims the release.

American diplomacy used promoters and senior Spanish officials to interfere with investigations into the case Couso, of CIA flights and torture at Guantanamo, said Tuesday's El Pais, based on intelligence reports leaked by Wikileaks.

The first refers to the death in Iraq of Spanish cameraman Jose Couso, who was assassinated in April 2003 by U.S. troops firing from a tank against the Palestine Hotel in Baghdad, the headquarters of an international press in the nation was invaded.

Another reason refers to the investigation opened by Judge Baltasar Garzon, after an allegation of torture at Guantanamo unlawful detention against Abderramán Hamed Ahmed, arrested a Spanish national.

The third point scales made in this European nation for secret CIA flights in which prisoners are transported to the said prison.

In this case, the prosecution asked in Spanish in May the arrest of 13 responsible for the Central Intelligence Agency.
